This is a fun, instructional league for kids in grades 1-8.  All players make a team.  All practices and most games take place in the Longmeadow School gyms. In order to increase the number of teams they play, all teams in 5th grade and up play games against some teams from other nearby towns like Wilbraham and East Longmeadow.  Players are taught specific skills based on their grade level.

1st and 2nd grade:

  * Begins mid-December

  * Play consists of 1/2 hour practice and 1/2 hour scrimmage each week 

  * Games are run by coaches  

  * Practice/games are held Saturday mornings between 8 a.m. and 12 noon.

  * No evaluation is necessary

3rd - 8th grade:

  * Begins early December

  * 1 practice and 1 game per week

  * Games are run by certified referees

  * 5th - 8th grade teams play other Park & Rec teams from nearby towns

This league is available for players in 3rd-4th grade who desire more competitive play.  Players are chosen through evaluations which are held in the fall.  Teams play in a nearby league, and modest travel is involved.  Games are run by certified referees.  Teams have 1-2 practices per week and 1-2 games per week over the season which runs from December through March

This league is available to players in 5th through 8th grade who desire more competitive play.  Players are chosen through evaluations which are held in the fall and are run by objective evaluators such as high school coaches, AAU coaches, or college players.  LYBA sponsors two teams in each division:  5/6 girls, 5/6 boys, 7/8 girls and 7/8 boys (8 teams total).

Teams play in the Suburban league, and modest travel is involved.  For example, past opponents have included teams from Chicopee, Holyoke, East Longmeadow, West Springfield, Monson, Agawam and Belchertown. 

Games follow High School rules, including a 30 second shot clock

Teams have 2 practices per week and 1-2 games per week over the season which runs from December through March.

Teams will participate in 1-2 tournaments throughout the season.
